"How to" Apply for Transportation Support for Your Concerts
Step 1: Understand the Purpose of Transportation Support
The transportation support program is designed to help professional musicians in Denmark cover transportation costs associated with concerts. It applies to all musical genres and is relevant for Danish orchestras, ensembles, and soloists.
Step 2: Carefully Read the Criteria
Before starting the application process, ensure you meet the following criteria:
• Your group must consist of at least two Denmark-based members (except for duos or soloists, where one person is sufficient).
• Orchestras or ensembles already receiving more than DKK 200,000 from the Danish Arts Foundation are not eligible.
• Musicians must receive a fee per concert between DKK 2,403.17 and DKK 3,515 per musician.
Step 3: Plan Your Application Around the Deadlines
You must submit your application between the 1st and 15th of the month following your concerts. For example, if your concerts were in February, you must apply between March 1 and March 15.
Step 4: Prepare Information for the Application
Make sure to have the following ready:
• Transportation expenses (e.g., mileage for car travel, ferry crossings, etc.).
• Number of musicians and any additional fees for travel to the Great Belt, Bornholm, or other islands.
• Musicians' fees (technical staff fees and booking commissions are not included).
Step 5: Complete and Submit the Application
When ready, fill out the application form electronically on JazzDanmark's website. You do not need to attach any documentation, but ensure your information is accurate. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email.
Step 6: Application Review Process
All applications are reviewed collectively after the 15th of each month. Expect a response within 1-2 weeks after the deadline. Any approved support will be paid directly to your NemKonto as B-income.
Step 7: Prepare for Random Checks
Approximately 10% of all applications are selected for random checks. If selected, you must provide documentation for your concerts (e.g., signed contracts) and transportation expenses (e.g., receipts for car mileage, ferries, or public transport).
For questions or concerns, contact JazzDanmark via email.
Good luck with your application!
Taxes for Musicians - Transportation Support
Taxes for Musicians - Transportation Support
It is a common misconception that transportation support funds are tax-free. However, these funds are taxable. Since they are often associated with deductible expenses, you can typically deduct these expenses, effectively balancing the amount owed.
