- Recording in Aalborg - July 17 - Visit from Lithuania for Big Band recording
Indspilning af et helt Bigband "One week ago, we recorded Anti Robotic Dance Music with @vilnius_jjazz_ensemble at @sh35biz / @aalborgstreetfood. Biggest thanks go out to @jacobnoergaard_music and @lucazillanes from @thehideoutstudio for setting a technical foundation for this live recording with sound, video and live audience. Also thank you to Jonas, Laura and Toni from SH35 for letting us use this fantastic venue for our future jazz. The music explores and imagines the role of improvisation, ecstasy and technological conflicts in a post-AI world, where humanity hides in the far reaches of the world to rediscover their own roots." Project manager Lukas Bjørn describes the fantastic day we had with the Vilnius Jazz Ensemble orchestra like this, but of course, it all started long before. If you have a special request, please contact us here. (In the video above, you can see how it all started at the Aalborg venue "SH35" at Aalborg Street Food) "Create something unique, record something unique" Recording a completely unique big band in Aalborg It all started several months before, with the initial conversations. The mission was simple: "Create something unique, record something unique" The band played only two concerts in Denmark, so we took the opportunity at the fantastic SH35 venue, where, together with the team behind it, we prepared for the recording. The music is composed by Kenneth Dahl Knudsen [16.7 - Musikhuset - Aarhus - Denmark (ARDM w/Vilnius Jazz Ensemble)](https://example.com) [17.7 - SH35 - Aalborg - Denmark (ARDM w/Vilnius Jazz Ensemble)](https://example.com) The music needs to be immortalized and live on, so we had to record the concert both in audio and video, aiming to create an intense and boundary-pushing album with this material. We are incredibly pleased to once again provide solutions to composers and musicians at an international level, consisting of: - Creative sparring - Technical solutions - Recording - Mixing - Mastering - Video production "But... how exactly do you handle channels, microphones, and a big band when recording?" You see, we recorded everything using our "mobile digital mixer," with 32 channels, which was perfect for the task as it matched exactly with 32 channels. The plan: **Sunday:** Setup and review of any errors and omissions. **Monday and Tuesday:** "Buffer days," check with subcontractors and rentals. **Wednesday:** - 7:45 AM: Arrival, equipment pickup, and setup. - 10:00 AM: Soundcheck for drums. - 1:00 PM: Orchestra meets for soundcheck. - 2:00 PM: Recording. - 6:00 PM: Soundcheck at Raven Jazz. - 8:00 PM: Doors open. - 12:00 AM: Thank you and teardown. - 2:00 AM: The Hideout team is completely finished. **Thursday:** - 7:45 AM: Arrival, return rented equipment. We provided: - 4 x DPA 4099 for trumpets - 4 x DPA 4099 for trombones - 5 x DPA 4099 for saxophones - 6 x AKG 414 XL, set up as stereo pairs for each of the wind sections - 2 x DI for piano - 2 x DI for guitar (Quad Cortex, for the nerds 😎) - Various mics for drums and bass, and an SM58 for speech - Plus monitor, including 3 wireless in-ear monitors Everything was run through our "mobile digital mixer," which is housed in a flight case, ready for on-location recordings. All recordings were captured directly to SD cards using a robust standalone unit. **Video:** The setup is checked. We are incredibly excited for the results to become publicly available!
